Again, we are adding a new name to the ever expanding line-up for Echo Base Charity Con! Today we are introducing Paul Kasey, who you first saw as rebel pilot Ello Asty in The Force Awakens. He also appeared as Edrio “Two Tubes” and Admiral Raddus in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Paul will also be seen in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, however his role(s) in that film are still unknown.
“I’ve seen this raw strength only once before. It didn’t scare me enough then. It does now.”
Today we are proud to reveal the official poster for Echo Base Charity Con! The gorgeous artwork on the poster – carrying the title “Evolution of Luke Skywalker” – was made by Stephen B. Scott, an American comic artist who was responsible for the official comic treatment of the Batman movie The Dark Knight and who was asked by George Lucas to make the art for the comic Indiana Jones and the Tomb of the Gods. Art Grafunkel was responsible for making up the lay-out.
As was the case the last several weeks we are adding another guest to our ever growing line-up this Friday. We would like to welcome Derek Arnold, the creature and droid performer from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story but also the upcoming new movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi! What part(s) he is […]
Brian Herring (BB-8) will be at Echo Base Charity Con – A Star Wars Event! In 2015 we got to know the cool new droid BB-8, who instantly became a fan favorite. It led to the enormous success of the remote controlled version by Sphero even before the movie The Force Awakens was released in cinemas.
BB-8 was realised by CGI for a number of scenes, but in most cases BB-8 was an “actual” robot who was brought to life by actor and puppeteer Brian Herring. He didn’t just fulfil this task for The Force Awakens but also for the upcoming film The Last Jedi. Besides that Brian also worked on Rogue One, in which he amongst other things can be seen as the droid SE-2.
Who doesn’t remember Bib Fortuna, the Twi’lek alien en right hand man of Jabba the Hutt in “Return of the Jedi”? For actor Michael Carter, bringing the character to life wasn’t always fun and games. For starters, he had to endure 8 hours in the make up chair each day before filming started! The hard work did pay off and one of the most memorable aliens from the film was born.
When the creators of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story had the idea to bring Grand Moff Tarkin back to the big screen, they faced two challenges: the special effects wizards at Industrial Light & Magic had to create a believable, digital version of Peter Cushing’s head onto an actor and they had to find an actor that was the perfect embodiement of Cushing for the shoot. They found their perfect actor in Guy Henry and we are very proud to announce he will be a special guest at Echo Base Charity Con – A Star Wars Event!
There is no dark side without the light side. Today we are happy to announce that the Rebel Legion – Dune Base Sea will also be present at the Echo Base Charity Con.
The Dune Sea Base is the Dutch division of the Rebel Legion, a worldwide organisation which, just like the 501st, focuses on the costumes of the Star Wars universe and amongst other things, gives back to community through the works of charity. This organisation was founded in 1999 and has spawned many chapters all over the world through the years. They represent the ‘good guys’ and members of the group own one or several costumes of, for example, Jedi or Rebels such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia or X-wing pilots.
Now that the summer vacation is (more or less) over, it is time for some news. And today we are announcing a new guest. Please welcome the actor who portrayed Rebel pilot Derek “Hobbie” Klivian: Richard Oldfield! For more information about our third guest please go to his Guest page.
In the upcoming months we will uncover many more things about Echo Base Charity Con 2017: new guests, activities, exhibitors and much, much more. So continue keep your eye on our website and social media for the latest news!
