About Echo Base Charity Con

Wat is Echo Base (Charity) Con?
Echo Base Charity Con is a 100% Star Wars event by fans, for fans with the goal of offering a day filled with entertainment and the raising of funds for charity.

Why is the event called Echo Base?
The name Echo Base is derived from the Star Wars movie The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and became the name of the Dutch Star Wars fan club Echo Base which was active between 2000 and 2004. During that time three conventions were organized: 2001, 2002 and 2003. Logically, the name Echo Base Con(vention) was chosen. While the fan club no longer exists, we decided to continue with the name Echo Base Con for the new editions.

Who are the organizers of Echo Base Charity Con ?
Echo Base Charity Con is being organized by the Echo Base Foundation, which was active earlier between 2000 and 2004. Please click here for more information about the foundation.

Is Echo Base Con the same event as Echo Base Live?
No. Echo Base Live was first organized in 2017 by the Echo Base Beneluxgroups on Facebook. The first edition of Echo Base Con took place in 2001, several years before Facebook began.

Why is there Charity in the name?
The raising of funds for a charity has always been an important aspect of Echo Base Con. In 2002, 2003, 2017 and 2019, the proceeds respectively went to the Dutch Cancer Society, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, UNICEF and Stichting Kinderen Kankervrij (KiKa). Ook de opbrengst van de 2023-editie gaat naar een charity.

Where and when is Echo Base Charity Con?
Echo Base Charity Con will take place on Saturday 27 May 2023 from 10:00-17:30 in Pathé Amsterdam Noord.

Is the event suitable for all ages?
Echo Base Charity Con is an event suitable for the entire family! However, please do take into account that the sound levels might be somewhat loud during screenings at the main stage.

Activities

What can you do at Echo Base Charity Con?
In short: everything that has to do with Star Wars can be found at Echo Base Charity Con. Several guests who worked on the movies both off and on screen will be present. During the panels you can learn more about their experiences in making the movies. Of course, you can meet our guests during the meet & greets. Thanks to fan groups such as the 501st Legion and the R2-D2 Builders Club you will come face to face with Stormtroopers, droids, rebels and other good & bad guys from the Star Wars universe. Or come dressed as your favorite character yourself! And of course you can purchase any kind of Star Wars merchandise from the numerous exhibitors .

Are there signing sessions with the guests?
There are signing sessions planned for the majority of our guests. In most cases payment is required for getting autographs. The price is determined by our guests, but we aim to keep these prices as low as possible.

Do I have to bring something to get signed?
Our guests will have photos available for signing, but you are more than welcome to bring your own item to get signed.

Can I have my picture taken with the guests?
In many cases, this can be done at the table during the signing sessions. It is possible a fee may be required.

Do I have a guaranteed seat at a screening or panel?
For all panels and screenings in the theatres: first come, first serve! Please make sure to be on time if you want to be assured of a seat.

When will the program be made available online?
Our goal is to publish the schedule two weeks in advance of the event. We will announce the activities leading up to that time. You can find them in the menu under [Info/Schedule].

How can I purchase tickets?
Tickets are available through this page.

Can I buy tickets offline?
Unfortunately, it's no longer possible to buy tickets offline. Tickets can only be bought via this page .

Can I buy tickets on the day?
Should Echo Base Con 2023 not sell out in the pre-sale, tickets will be available at the door for € 30,00 for ages 12 and up, and € 15,00 for ages 6-11.

I've bought tickets, but have not received them yet. What do I do?
Do you have any questions about the (online) ticket sales? Then please contact the Paylogic Customer Service by calling +31 20 700 9802 or send an e-mail via customerservice@paylogic.com.

I've bought tickets but am now unable to go. Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, it's not possible to get a refund. You can safely resell your tickets via www.ticketswap.nl.

Location

Is there a possibility to buy drinks and food?
Yes! During or after Echo Base Charity Con you can go to the ground floor of Pathé Amsterdam Noord and visit Hollywood Café, BoulesBitesBar Amsterdam or De Beren for a delightful lunch or dinner. Candies, sodas, crisps and other snacks are available in the Pathé store on the first floor.

Can I bring my pet?
No, pets are not allowed, except for Porgs.

Is the event accessible for wheelchairs?
Yes. Pathé Amsterdam Noord has wheelchair spaces in every screening room. An elevator and accessible restrooms are also present.

Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes, Pathé Amsterdam Noord offers complimentary Wi-Fi to all visitors. Registration may be required, and availability cannot be guaranteed by Pathé or Stichting Echo Base.

Can I park my car at Pathé Amsterdam Noord?
Plenty of parking is available around Pathé Amsterdam Noord. You can find more info on this page.

Can I pay with card at Echo Base Con?
Some exhibitors accept cards, but not all. The guests can only be paid in cash. Please make sure you bring along enough cash. In the nearby shopping mall Winkelcentrum Boven ‘t Y you can find several ATM cash machines.

Is there a cloak room?
There is no cloak room in the venue.

Can I go outside the venue and back in?
After your ticket has been scanned, you will receive a wrist band. With the wrist band, you can move freely in and out of the venue. Please note: wrist bands are not transferable. If the wrist band is damaged or lost you will be charged the price of a day ticket (€ 30,-) if you want to gain re-entry to the event.

Can I promote my event?
During Echo Base Charity Con it is NOT permitted to advertise your event (for example by handing out flyers) without written permission from Stichting Echo Base. It is also not allowed to hand out flyers outside the venue without permission from the city of Amsterdam.
