[:nl]Tom Wilton is een Brits acteur die in 2005 afstudeerde voor zijn studie Drama. Na enkele jaren als acteur op de planken van het theater te hebben gewerkt, begon hij zich te specialiseren in beweging, ‘motion capture’ en poppenspel met wezens. De afgelopen jaren heeft hij doorgebracht als één van de centrale performers van wezens in Star Wars. Hij heeft een divers scala aan aparte en wonderbaarlijke wezens en aliens mede tot leven gebracht in een universum hier ver, ver vandaan.
Hij heeft daarnaast ook een goede werkverhouding met een andere divisie binnen Lucasfilm. Bij Industrial Light + Magic was hij de primaire ‘motion capture’ performer voor Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Zijn ontwikkeling als poppenspeler begon bij het National Theatre waar hij de rol van Joey the Warhorse speelde. Daarnaast is hij ook gekwalificeerd als ‘Animal Flow’-instructeur en is hij nauw betrokken als poppenspeler en als referentiespeler voor de Fantastic Beasts franchise.
Zijn Star Wars carrière begon met Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. Samen met collega Derek Arnold (die onze gast was in 2017) bracht hij de Luggabeast tot leven. Hij speelde ook de droid B-U4D (Buford) en Sarco Plank. Zijn daaropvolgende film was Rogue One – A Star Wars Story waarin hij Ponda Baba speelde, op dat moment nog in het bezit van beide armen. Hij speelde ook Bor Gullet, wederom in samenwerking met Derek Arnold.
Hierna volgde Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi. Hij speelde diverse rollen, waaronder Edmo Ectacle, Bargwill Tomder and the Thala Siren, van wie Luke Skywalker zijn dagelijkse dosis melk ontving. In Solo – A Star Wars Story bediende hij het gezicht van het personage wat bekend staat als Silvasu Fi. En wat de toekomst nog meer brengt… wie weet!

After several years of working as an actor in theater he started specialising in movement, motion capture and creature puppetry. He has spent the last couple of years as one of the core creature performers on Star Wars, helping bring to life a menagerie of weird and wonderful monsters and aliens in a galaxy far, far away.
He also has a good working relationship with another part of Lucasfilm. At Industrial Light + Magic he was the primary motion capture performer on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Tom’s journey into puppetry began at the National Theatre where he played Joey the Warhorse. He is also a qualified Animal Flow instructor and works extensively as a reference performer/puppeteer for the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
His Star Wars career started with Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. With his collegue Derek Arnold (who was our guest in 2017) he performed the Luggabeast. He also performed the droid B-U4D (Buford) and Sarco Plank. His following movie was Rogue One – A Star Wars Story in which he played Ponda Baba, still in possession of both of his arms. He also performed Bor Gullet, once again alongside Derek Arnold.
Next up was Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi. He played characters several among which Edmo Ectacle, Bargwill Tomder and the Thala Siren, from which Luke Skywalker receives his daily dose of milk. For Solo – A Star Wars Story he was the facial puppeteer of the character known as Silvasu Fi. And what the future holds… who knows!
