Net als met veel kinderen in die tijd maakte de film enorm veel indruk op zijn leven. Hij wist toen echter nog niet dat hij zesendertig jaar later R2-units voor diezelfde franchise zou gaan maken!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Als kind was \u00e9\u00e9n van zijn hobby&#8217;s modelbouw. Met deze ervaring besloot hij jaren later om voor de gein een R2-D2 na te bouwen. In januari 2009, na er zo&#8217;n twee jaar mee bezig zijn geweest, was zijn op afstand bestuurbare, film accurate R2-D2 klaar. Omdat hij eigenlijk niet wist wat hij vervolgens ermee moest doen, besloot hij maar om charity events te gaan bezoeken. Dit leidde er uiteindelijk toe dat hij werd erkend door Lucasfilm, die hem vroegen voor promotionele events in Engeland, zoals de lancering van nieuwe games, de premi\u00e8re van <em>The Phantom Menace<\/em> in 3D en een reclamecampagne op televisie<\/p>\n<p>In de zomer van 2013 werd hij uitgenodigd voor een bijeenkomst in de Pinewood Studios met <strong>Neal <\/strong><strong>Scanlan<\/strong> en andere leden van het productieteam om een aanbod voor hem te bespreken. Dit aanbod bleek te gaan om het bouwen van R2-D2&#8217;s voor de nieuwe reeks Star Wars-films.<\/p>\n<p>Binnen drie maanden na het gesprek was Lee, een fan die nog nooit in de filmindustrie had gewerkt, fulltime als staflid aan het werk aan <em>Star Wars: Episode VII &#8211; The Force Awakens<\/em> voor het Creature Effects Team van Neal Scanlan. Hij is ook daarna daar blijven werken waar hij droid bouwde en bediende voor <em>Rogue One: A Star Wars Story<\/em>, <em>Star Wars: Episode VIII &#8211; The Last Jedi<\/em>, <em>Solo: A Star Wars Story<\/em> en het aankomende <em>Star Wars: Episode IX &#8211; The Rise of Skywalker<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Force Awakens<\/span><\/strong>:<br \/>\nLee bouwde R2-D2, Mouse Droids, R0-4LO, Toolbox Droids en Power Droids, en hij bediende alle op afstand bestuurbare droids die hij bouwde<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rogue One<\/span><\/strong>:<br \/>\nHij bouwde de eerste versie van de A-LT Droid, plus een nieuwe, zwartek R2-unit genaamd C2-B5. Hij bediende R2-D2 tijdens zijn cameo met C-3PO, de A-LT Droid, C2-B5, Mouse Droids en andere Astromechs.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Last Jedi<\/span><\/strong>:<br \/>\nHij bediende R2-D2, Resistance BB-units (BB-9E &amp; BB-4), Mouse Droids en Sentry Droids.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Solo<\/span><\/strong>:<br \/>\nDeze film bevatte het grootste aantal droids die door Lee waren gemaakt. Hij was met name betrokken bij het bouwen van meer van de A-LT droids, waarmee het productieaantal van deze droids op drie kwam te staan. Hij was ook betrokken bij de bouw van de nieuwe miniversie van de Power Droid (MPH-11), W1-EG5, P0-03, GB-BD, WG-22 en de fighting droids. Daarnaast assisteerde hij ook bij het aankleden van een aantal droid. Behalve dit bestuurde hij ook veel van de droids die hij bouwde, vooral de A-LT droids. Like most kids at the time, this film made a huge impression on his life. Little did he know that thirtysix years later he would be making R2 units for the very same franchise!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Growing up and having model building as a hobby resulted in Lee building an R2-D2 \u2018for fun\u2019 in 2007. In January 2009 after a two year build Lee completed his film accurate remote controlled R2-D2. Not knowing what he would now do with this new \u2018toy\u2019 Lee started to attend charity events which eventually led to being recognized by Lucasfilm. He has been to many promotional events in the UK including game launches, the premier of <em>The Phantom Menace<\/em> in 3D and an television advertising campaign amongst others.<\/p>\n<p>In the summer of 2013 Lee was asked to attend a meeting at Pinewood Studios with <strong>Neal <\/strong><strong>Scanlan<\/strong> and other members of the Production Team to discuss an offer they would like to make. This turned out to be an offer to build the R2-D2s for the new run of Star Wars movies.<\/p>\n<p>Within three months of having the meeting, Lee &#8211; a fan who had never worked in the film industry before &#8211; was a fulltime member of staff working on <em>Star Wars: Episode VII &#8211; The Force Awakens<\/em> for Neal Scanlan&#8217;s Creature Effects Team. He has continued to work for Neal Scanlans CFX Team, building and operating droids on <em>Rogue One: A Star Wars Story<\/em>, <em>Star Wars: Episode VIII &#8211; The Last Jedi<\/em>, <em>Solo: A Star Wars Story<\/em> and the upcoming <em>Star Wars: Episode IX &#8211; The Rise of Skywalker<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Force Awakens<\/span><\/strong>:<br \/>\nLee built R2-D2, Mouse Droids, R0-4LO, Toolbox Droids and Power Droids and he operated all of the remote controlled droid he built.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Rogue One<\/span><\/strong>:<br \/>\nHe built the first version of the A-LT Droid, plus a new black R2 unit called C2-B5. He operated R2-D2 during his cameo with C-3PO, the A-LT Droid, C2-B5, Mouse Droids and other Astromechs.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Last Jedi<\/span><\/strong>:<br \/>\nHe operated R2-D2, Resistance BB units (BB-9E &amp; BB-4), Mouse Droids and Sentry Droids.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Solo<\/span><\/strong>:<br \/>\nThis film had the largest quantity of droids Lee has seen come out of the Model Making department. Lee was specifically involved in building more of the A-LT droids bringing the production quantity up to a total of three of these droids. He was also involved in building the new mini version of the Power Droid (MPH-11), W1-EG5, P0-03, GB-BD, WG-22 and the fighting droids. He also assisted with dressing a number of other Droids. Besides this he operated a\u00a0lot of the droids he built, especially the A-LT droids.
