[:nl]Kiran Shah werd op 28 september 1956 geboren in Nairobi, Kenia. Op twaalfjarige leeftijd verhuisde hij met zijn familie naar India. Daar kwam hij in aanraking kwam met het medium film en werd er meteen door gegrepen. De familie verhuisde nogmaals en kwam in Londen, Engeland terecht. In deze stad zou ook zijn lange carrière in de entertainmentindustrie beginnen.
Carrière
In 1977 maakte hij zijn debuut als stand-in en stuntman in de film “The People That Time Forgot“. In deze hoedanigheid was hij ook te zien in bekende films als “Superman” (1978), “Superman II” (1980), “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981), “The Dark Crystal” (1982), “Legend “(1985), “Aliens” (1986), “Braveheart” (1995), “Titanic” (1997) en “Harry Potter en de Steen der Wijzen” (2001).
Meer prominente rollen had hij in de Lord of the Rings- en de Hobbit-trilogieën. Hier speelde hij naast Elijah Wood en Martin Freeman respectievelijk Frodo Baggins en Bilbo Baggins. In de fantasyreeks The Chronicles of Narnia, was hij de rechterhand van de Heks, Ginarrbrik, in “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” (2005).
Star Wars
Ook in Star Wars-franchise is hij in tal van rollen te zien. Zijn Star Wars-avontuur begon met “Return of the Jedi” (1983), waarin hij een onfortuinlijke Gonk Droid speelde die in Jabba’s Palace werd gemarteld. In dezelfde film speelde hij ook een Ewok.
Na ruim dertig jaar was het de beurt aan “The Force Awakens” (2015). Hierin is hij onder meer te zien als Teedo, de verzamelaar die er vandoor probeert te gaan met BB-8 op Jakku. Andere rollen in deze film waren die van Infrablue Zedbeddy Coggins en Pru Sweevant die zich beide in het kasteel van Maz Kanata bevinden.
Sindsdien is Kiran in alle Star Wars-films te zien. In “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” (2016) speelde hij Oolin Musters, de celgenoot van Jyn Erso. In “The Last Jedi” (2017) was hij Neepers Panpick, een alien op Canto Bight en in “Solo: A Star Wars Story” (2019) speelde hij Karjj, een Sabacc spelende alien die aan tafel zat bij Han Solo en Lando Calrissian tijdens hun allereerste ontmoeting.
’Sinds 2003 is Kiran te vinden in het Guinness Book of Records als “Kleinste Professionele Stuntman”.’

There he came into contact with movies and he was instantly fascinated by them. After a while the Shah family moved again and relocated to London, England. It would be in this city where his long career in the entertainment business would start.
Career
In 1977 Kiran made his debut as a stand-in and a stuntman in the movie “The People That Time Forgot“. In the Star Wars franchise he has played a number of roles, both as an actor, stuntman and creature & droid performer. After more than thirty years he returned in “The Force Awakens” (2015). In this movie one of his roles was that of Teedo, the alien collector who tries to take BB-8 for parts on Jakku. Other roles in this movie were those of Infrablue Zedbeddy Coggins and Pru Sweevant who can both be seen in Maz Kanata’s castle.
