As Chief Model Maker at Industrial Light & Magic, Michael played a vital role in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. From supervising the construction of the massive Mos Espa Grand Arena—complete with over 450,000 hand-painted cotton swabs representing the crowd—to building and operating C-3PO in The Phantom Menace, his work helped bring George Lucas’s vision to life with incredible detail and creativity.
