The legendary model maker Michael Lynch will be making his European convention debut at Echo Base Charity Con 2025!
As Chief Model Maker at Industrial Light & Magic, Michael played a key role in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. For The Phantom Menace , he led the team that built the enormous Mos Espa Grand Arena miniature, famously filling the stands with over 450,000 hand-painted cotton swabs to represent a bustling crowd.
Lynch also built and operated C-3PO for Episode I. Dressed in a special suit to be removed in post-production, he operated the puppet on set while Anthony Daniels provided the voice off-camera, guiding Lynch's movements to bring the character to life.
He continued this work on Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, helping to bring George Lucas’s universe to life through meticulous miniatures and practical effects.
Beyond Star Wars, Michael's craftsmanship can be seen in films like Starship Troopers, Star Trek: Generations and Transformers.
