Between 2001 and 2005, venues in Maarssen and Nieuwegein hosted the first three editions of Echo Base Con, organized by the Dutch Star Wars fan club Echo Base. These events attracted between 500 and 1,000 visitors during which money was raised for the Dutch Cancer Society (Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds) and Make-A-Wish.

2017 edition
Although the fan club ceased to exist in 2005, in 2017 a relaunch of Echo Base Con took place with the fourth edition, this time at Kinepolis Jaarbeurs Utrecht. With more than 1,500 visitors, the event was completely sold out and a sum of 10,604 euros could be handed over to UNICEF via Star Wars: Force for Change.

2019 edition
The fifth edition of Echo Base Charity Con took place in 2019, again at Kinepolis Jaarbeurs Utrecht. This event, too, was completely sold out, allowing an amount of 11,376 euros to be transferred to Dutch Children Cancer-free Foundation (KiKa).

2023 edition
After several years of absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was finally time for another edition in 2023. This sixth edition not only moved the event to a new location - the beautiful Pathé Amsterdam Noord cinema - but also to a new month. For the first time, the Echo Base Charity Con took place in May, the Star Wars month par excellence. As in 2003, the charity that took center stage was Make-A-Wish who received a whopping 13,192 euro donation after the event.
