“General Solo, is your strike team assembled?”
At Echo Base Con, we obviously won't let the 40th anniversary of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi go unnoticed. General Crix Madine himself will be a guest at a convention in the Netherlands for the first time since 2002: a warm welcome to actor Dermot Crowley!
Dermot Crowley (born March 19, 1947) is an Irish stage, film and television actor who, in addition to his role as General Crix Madine in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi , is probably best known as DSU Martin Schenk in the acclaimed series Luther opposite Idris Elba, currently showing in the Netherlands via streaming service HBO Max. Crowley plays this role again in the film Luther: The Fallen Sun available from March 10 on Netflix.
Besides Return of the Jedi , Dermot can be seen on the big screen in various other roles such as playing Lieutenant Kamp in the James Bond-film Octopussy (1983), Sgt. François Duval in Son of the Pink Panther (1993), and Lazar Kaganovich in the critically acclaimed political satire, The Death of Stalin (2017).
