Zo werd de op afstand bedienbare uitvoering van Sphero al voordat The Force Awakens uitkwam een enorme hit.BB-8 werd voor een aantal scènes door middel van CGI gerealiseerd, maar in de meeste gevallen was BB-8 een "echte" robot die door acteur en poppenspeler Brian Herring tot leven werd gewekt. Hij vervulde deze taak niet alleen voor The Force Awakens maar ook voor de nieuwe film The Last Jedi. [:nl]Wie herinnert zich niet Bib Fortuna, de Twi'lek alien en rechterhand van Jabba the Hutt uit Return of the Jedi? Voor acteur Michael Carter was het tot leven brengen van dit personage niet altijd een pretje. Zo bracht hij aan het begin van de opnames maar liefst acht uur per dag door in de make-up stoel voor het aanbrengen van alle protheses! Het harde werken resulteerde echter in een van de meest memorabele aliens uit de film. We zijn blij dat Michael te gast zal zijn op Echo Base Charity Con, waar hij vragen zal beantwoorden van bezoekers en een signeersessie zal houden.[:en]Who doesn’t remember Bib Fortuna, the Twi'lek alien en right hand man of Jabba the Hutt in "Return of the Jedi"? For actor Michael Carter, bringing the character to life wasn’t always fun and games. For starters, he had to endure 8 hours in the make up chair each day before filming started! The hard work did pay off and one of the most memorable aliens from the film was born.[:]
[:nl]Toen de makers van Rogue One: A Star Wars Story op het idee kwamen het personage van Grand Moff Tarkin in de film te gebruiken hadden ze twee uitdagingen: de special effects-wizards van Industrial Light & Magic moesten een geloofwaardige, digitale versie van het hoofd van Peter Cushing op een acteur plaatsen èn ze hadden een acteur nodig die de perfecte belichaming van Cushing zou zijn tijdens de opnames. Die acteur vonden ze in Guy Henry, en we zijn trots te kunnen aankondigen dat hij te gast zal zijn op Echo Base Charity Con - A Star Wars Event![:en]When the creators of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story had the idea to bring Grand Moff Tarkin back to the big screen, they faced two challenges: the special effects wizards at Industrial Light & Magic had to create a believable, digital version of Peter Cushing's head onto an actor and they had to find an actor that was the perfect embodiement of Cushing for the shoot. They found their perfect actor in Guy Henry and we are very proud to announce he will be a special guest at Echo Base Charity Con - A Star Wars Event![:]

Daarom kunnen we vandaag aankondigen dat ook de Rebel Legion - Dune Base Sea aanwezig zal zijn op Echo Base Charity Con.De Dune Base Sea in de Nederlandse tak van de Rebel Legion, een wereldwijde organisatie die zich net als de 501st bezighoudt met de kostuums uit het Star Wars universum en zich onder meer inzet voor goede doelen. Deze organisatie in in 1999 opgericht en heeft door de jaren heen wereldwijd afdelingen opgebouwd. Zij vertegenwoordigen de 'goederiken' en leden van deze groep zijn in het bezig van één of meerdere kostuums van bijvoorbeeld Jedi of Rebellen, zoals Obi-Wan Kenobi, Prinses Leia of X-wing piloten.[:en]There is no dark side without the light side. Today we are happy to announce that the Rebel Legion - Dune Base Sea will also be present at the Echo Base Charity Con.The Dune Sea Base is the Dutch division of the Rebel Legion, a worldwide organisation which, just like the 501st, focuses on the costumes of the Star Wars universe and amongst other things, gives back to community through the works of charity. This organisation was founded in 1999 and has spawned many chapters all over the world through the years. They represent the 'good guys' and members of the group own one or several costumes of, for example, Jedi or Rebels such as Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia or X-wing pilots.[:]

[:nl]In eigen land lopen Star Wars fans rond die prachtige dingen doen en maken. Eén daarvan die zeker in dat rijtje thuishoort is Joost van Jazzinc Dioramas. Hij maakt zijn eigen dromen waar door zeer realistische en gedetailleerde diorama's te maken gebaseerd op de originele Star Wars trilogie. Speciaal gemaakt voor de 1 op 6 schaal figuren van Hot Toys, Sideshow, Medicom en anderen.[:en]It often happens that the Star Wars fan community surprises us with an astounding level of creativity and professionalism. Sometimes that even leads to fans being offered a job to work on the movies, as was the case with two British Astromech builders who got the chance to work on The Force Awakens. In The Netherlands there are also fans that make and do wonderful things. One of such people is Joost of Jazzinc Dioramas. He makes his own dreams come true by making very realistic and highly detailed dioramas based on the original Star Wars Trilogy. They are made especially for the 1:6 scale figures of Hot Toys, Sideshow, Medicom and others.[:]
